The most widely used fingers to calculate in abacus  are  index and  finger  in the  left  and thumb and  finger  in the  right hand . On the lower part, there are sets of beads which have a value of ‘One’. The upper part has a set of beads which takes the value of ‘Five’.  The upper and lower beads are separated by a horizontal bar. The Abacus should be used by lying it on the table, with the upper beads up and the lower beads down. To represent any number, the lower beads should be moved up and the upper beads should be moved down. The upper beads should be moved using the right index finger. The lower beads will be moved using the right thumb finger.
