Magical fingers the method can be used to count the numbers from 0 to 99, using the right hand and left
hand. For quicker calculation in abacus, the number of fingers accustomed move the beads play a very important role.
The most widely used fingers to calculate in abacus are index and finger in the left and thumb and finger in the right hand.
The calculation is usually done from the middle purpose if you're using Soroban.
Interestingly, soroban consists of azan odd number of rods(vertical bars).
The addition and subtraction calculations are done from the middle point or middle rod. The key to conniving quicker is to use finger within the paw to form movements of heaven(upper) beads(both addition and subtraction), thumb for associate degree addition of earth(lower) beads and again index finger for subtraction. As for the left hand, for the movement of heaven beads, use middle finger for both addition and subtraction and for earth beads use the index finger for both addition and subtraction.
Let us learn in detail how to count numbers
using fingers.
Counting On Right Hand
:
First start
Counting on your right hand.
How many fingers in our right hand? “5”.
We use right hand to count numbers from Zero
(0) to Nine (9).
Now observe the explanation below.
RIGHT HAND
|
All
the fingers are closed so the value is
“Zero (0)”.
The index finger is up and remaining all fingers closed.
Then the value is
“One (1)”.
Index finger and middle finger are up and
remaining all fingers closed. Then the value is“Two (2)”.
Index finger, middle finger and next finger are up and
remaining all fingers closed. Then the value is
“Three (3)“.
Index finger, middle finger and next two fingers are
up and remaining fingers closed. Then the value is
“Four (4)“.
Thumb finger
open and remaining all fingers closed the value is
“Five (5)”.
Index finger, thumb finger is
“Six
(6)“.
Index finger, thumb finger and middle finger are up
and remaining all fingers closed. Then the value is
“Seven(7)“.
Index finger, thumb finger and next two fingers are up
and remaining fingers closed. Then the value is
“Eight (8)”.
All fingers open then the value is “Nine(9)“.
Counting On Left Hand :
First
start Counting on your left hand.
How many fingers in our left hand? “5”.
We use left hand to count numbers from Ten
(10) to Ninety (90).
Now observe the explanation below.
LEFT HAND
The left-hand Index finger is up and remaining all fingers closed. Then the value is “Ten (10)”.
Index
finger and middle finger are up and remaining all fingers closed. Then the
value is “Twenty(20)”
Index finger and the next two fingers are up and remaining
all fingers closed. Then the value is
“Thirty (30)”
Index finger, next three fingers are up and remaining fingers
closed. Then the value is
“Forty (40)”
Thumb finger up and remaining fingers closed. Then the
value is“Fifty (50)”
Thumb finger and index finger are up and
remaining all fingers closed. Then the value is “Sixty (60)”.
Thumb finger, index finger and next finger are up and
remaining all fingers closed. Then the value is
“Seventy (70)”.
Index finger, thumb finger and next two fingers are up
and remaining fingers closed. Then the value is
“Eighty (80)”.
All fingers open then the value is
“Ninety (90)”
These Magical Fingers are used to do addition and subtraction in Abacus. The most important factor to remember while using an abacus is to create movements of all of your fingers at the same time.
There is also a six finger technique within which thumb index and middle fingers of each hand are used.
middle finger for each addition and subtraction in higher beads, index fingers for subtraction in lower beads and thumb for addition in higher beads.
The six fingers technique is quicker than the four fingers technique.
